Off East Street
Opp. Bombay Garage
Tel.: 2648037

If you don’t look carefully, you might miss it. Cosily tucked on East Street, just next to India Café, is ‘The Basement’. Don’t judge this store by its insignificant entrance as the insides tell a different story! Sprawling, classically and sparingly designed, this store is a must visit.

Essentially a ‘brand stand’, The Basement houses almost 24 multinational ‘upmarket’ brands under one roof! Stress is mainly on leisure, casual and sports wear.

The entrance has an interesting display of Reebok and Lee Cooper shoes alternating with jackets and T-shirts. With brands like Adidas and Jockey not far behind, there is ample of variety to choose from.

What you can’t miss is the perfume counter at the entrance. With almost 25 brands to choose from, Pacco rabanne, Gucci and Burberry’s are some of the favourites! Each brand allotted a section; Jockey has its range of T-shirts, undergarments, socks, and even shirts. The sweatshirts and formal trousers from Ruggers and trendy denims from Lee Cooper are the highlights!

One simply cannot ignore the section of Prax while the wide range of T-shirts from Crocodile International are worth consideration! One of the last sections is Provogue, where you can take your pick from its huge range of shirts, denims and formal trousers.

The women needn’t be disappointed as there are locally made designer salwar kameez, scarves from Silk Weaves and a range of western casuals. Accessories like caps, belts (Lebuck), wallets and bags are not uncommon here. Popular brands like Scullers, Indigo Nation, Newport and Burlington’s are all available here as well!

Their best brand however is their service, they say. Open 7 days a week from 9.30 am to 8.30 pm, this shop doesn’t believe in lunch breaks. And what’s more, you could end up blowing your wallet, before you even know! With offers and discounts a common feature here, not to forget the interesting ‘on the spot’ gifts, you might be surprised at what you get next!
